Kevin Seawright has been a model businessman and civic leader in several east coast cities including Washington D.C., Baltimore and Newark, NJ. He’s worked extensively with community development committees and foundations, government officials and private sector companies.

His latest accomplishment is RPS Solutions, a development company in Baltimore that develops and renovates both commercial and residential properties in coordination with city officials and brokers and aims to make housing more affordable in various neighborhoods. Seawright started this company because he knows how difficult it can be for first-time homebuyers to enter the market and he doesn’t want them to have to live above their means.

According to Crunchbase, in fact one young man named Jerrel Brown had Kevin Seawright to thank for the opportunity he now has to purchase a home. Brown had gotten a job working for the city but even his salary couldn’t afford the average home in Baltimore.

PR News Wire stated that Kevin Seawright told him about his new company and how he could enroll in the first-time buyers program, and now Brown will have his first renovated house thanks to Seawright’s work.

Kevin Seawright began his professional career after graduating from Almeda University with a master’s degree in accounting. He first started working with the city council to manage payroll and accounts receivable aspects of the city’s funds. All in all Seawright has managed over $400 million in both public and private funds and bonds and has implemented programs to allocate needed resources in city areas. For example, he helped direct funds to some of Baltimore’s public schools that lacked resources. He also made CitiStat operational, a software system that analyzed areas of Baltimore’s public services such as emergency response, administrative agencies and the mayor’s office.

In more recent years Kevin Seawright served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer to the city of Newark’s economic development wing. This organization was responsible for bringing initiatives to the city that would promote business and housing development and add diversity to the neighborhoods.

In addition to the work with public and private urban development entities, Seawright coaches youth sports and sits on the boards of the Babe Ruth Museum. He’s also married and has a young daughter named Tia.
